Silver Fox // X-Men
Completed: March 2013
Worn to: WonderCon 2013
Inspiration
Ok ok, I’m obsessed with Marvel. Let’s just say that I’m slowly on a mission to cosplay all Marvel characters and just leave it at that. Marvel is definitely popular within the cosplay community right now, but it’s rare to see some of the more obscure characters cosplayed. Silver Fox made a bit of an appearance in the unfortunate X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, but her character was substantially different than the lovely lady who appeared in the comics. Wolverine’s tragic former love, Silver Fox is a complicated character – is she good or bad? How much control does she have over her own decisions? How much does she remember about her past and what exactly are the extent of her powers? Lots of mystery surrounds this gal!
Construction
This costume is made from green and gold spandex. The boot covers (soon to be redone) out of metallic gold spandex, and the cloak out of green gabardine and taffeta. I opted for a slightly more neutral green for the cloak in order to keep things a bit more ‘realistic’ looking and chose gold over yellow to avoid appearing like a giant lemon-lime. I have to admit that I never thought I’d spend so much time in the fabric district staring at different shades of green!
